Joint Preservation
Joint Preservation Surgery
Sports injuries, other joint trauma, neglect of injuries over prolonged periods and degenerative conditions like arthritis can lead to dysfunction & disabling abnormalities within the joint.
These joint abnormalities result in symptoms like pain, limitation of movements, swelling, deformities, instability, clicking, locking within joints.
Joint preservation procedures include all procedures ranging from non-invasive methods, injections, arthroscopic, minimally invasive or open surgical procedures. These procedures include treatments to relieve symptoms and restore normalcy to the joint and avoid the need for a joint replacement.
The surgical procedures would include repairs, reconstructions, restorations, realignments or restructuring of joints with biologic methods to regain normalcy.
Latest modalities of treatment and newer technologies including the selective permissible use of stem cells and growth factors benefit this treatment modality in scientifically proven & indicated conditions.

MAC (BONE MARROW ASPIRATE CONCENTRATE)
Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC)
BMAC is a regenerative therapy procedure where patient’s bone marrow cells are extracted and utilized to boost the healing process of a surgically operated bone. This procedure has proven its benefits in a number of common chronic orthopaedic conditions like osteoarthritis, and other bone and cartilage injuries. BMAC typically provides a substantial supply of growth cells to initiate healing in areas that lack natural blood supply and other factors responsible for healing.
BMAC Procedure :
• The bone marrow extraction is performed as an outpatient procedure where the patient is induced with local anaesthesia, and a small volume of the patient’s bone marrow is extracted from their pelvic bone.
• The extract marrow is then subjected to a centrifuge system for producing concentrated unique stem cells.
• These stem cells will then be injected into the patient’s damaged/operated tissues.
Precautions to Practise After A BMAC Procedure:
• This procedure requires minimal resting time, and you may feel sore at the site of the injection for not more than two or three days.
• You’ll have to strictly avoid using any anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or aspirin for at least two weeks as they can potentially hamper the articulated healing process.
• You’ll experience pain for only for a short duration of time.
• It is suggested that you follow up this BMAC procedure with a short period of physical therapy to accelerate recovery.
